The Rhythm Hunters

The Rhythm Hunters are a world music ensemble based on the Central Coast of NSW.

Led by Rendra Freestone, The Rhythm Hunters play an inspired brand of physical drumming blended with tuned wood blocks & bronze percussion.

Asian flute music is woven delicately into the thundering sound fabric of drums to create a music of heaven and earth.

Influences come from Japanese taiko, Indonesian music and the multicultural soundscapes of modern day Australia.

Amy Vee

NSW Singer-songwriter and mental health advocate Amy Vee is delighted to join the A Walk in the Park event in Gosford which supports individuals, strengthens communities and enhances well-being for all.

Amy has been performing across Australia and overseas for almost a decade - and continues to showcase her original music, playing gigs and festivals in support of her most recent critically acclaimed EP, Sleeping Dogs Lie.

With an Honours in Psychology, Amy also works on local and national projects promoting mental health and suicide prevention through arts and media.

Jake Cassar

Jake Cassar has been working as a professional singer and musician on the Central Coast for the past 15 years. His musical accomplishments include performing original songs at the Big Day Out in Sydney, and in 2004 he made it to the top 50 in Australian Idol.

Jake is heavily involved in charity work and believes music and celebration can raise awareness about major issues while building a stronger sense of community by bringing people together.

"Mental health is a major factor at the root of many other serious issues. I hope to continue to support the amazing organisations that help so many of our locals. Mental health is no walk in the park, but to truly make a difference, we must go the extra mile!"

Word up!

Mental health is one of the great social challenges we face today.

As many as one in five experience mental illness at some point in their life, with one in ten experiencing long term mental health problems.

Mental illness often leads to isolation, insecurity, unemployment, homelessness, the breakdown of family units along with many other health and social issues.

In one way or another the impact is felt by the whole community.

That's why it's so important we come together to raise awareness about mental health and to promote physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

By working together we can make a real difference in the lives of individuals, and make our communities stronger in the process.

That's what it's all about: supporting individuals, strengthening communities and enhancing wellbeing for all.

We're again pleased to present A Walk in the Park 2011. We thank those who continue to support it, and we hope you'll choose to be come along!
